Ref. NE-00749

The CIMA/Robert Half Finance & Accounting Salary Survey 2007/08 was designed to offer employers and employees detailed salary information on job functions within the finance and accounting sector in the UK.

Whilst 84 per cent of CIMA finance professionals stated that they were satisfied with their existing salary and benefits packages, almost a quarter (23 per cent) cited the option of flexible working arrangements as an extremely important element of a remuneration package.  Only 37 per cent of CIMA professionals were given the option of flexible hours by their current employer.

Other key findings include:

  • The average salary for CIMA qualified finance professionals is £55,600.
  • There are clear regional differences in average salaries across the UK with those working in London earning the highest with an average salary of £66,500, and those in Northern Ireland earning the least with an average of £42,100.
  • A typical working week for a qualified CIMA professional is 44 hours per week.
  • 58 per cent stated they are working longer hours than two years ago because their roles have changed.
  • 32 per cent blame understaffing for an increase in their working hours.

The CIMA/Robert Half Finance & Accounting Salary Survey 2008 was carried out online by an independent market research company during August and September 2007.  In total 1935 CIMA finance professionals responded to the survey.
