Sandvik is now looking for a proactive General Accounting Specialist to perform General Accounting (GA) and Financial Accounting (FA) within the UK and co-ordinate activities between Country Finance GA and Business. This is a demanding role where activities change on a daily basis, based at the UK Headquarters in Halesowen.The role will have broad responsibilities - a mix of reporting, control and project work. The successful candidate will be responsible for monthly tasks such as:
- FX revaluation
- Bank reconciliations
- Ledger reconciliations
- Month end processing
- Fixed asset accounting
- Intercompany reconciliations
- Accruals and resolution of variances
- VAT Returns
- Intrastat and EC Sales List submissions
- Associated controls
The successful candidate will ensure that internal controls are implemented and operational and be responsible for balance sheet reconciliations including identification of risks. They will support the GA Team Leader in preparing IFRS statutory accounts and corporation tax analysis. They will facilitate communication with stakeholders, ensuring that issues are captured and resolved effectively and support other functions within Sandvik to include reviewing processes, policies and rules.Travel to other UK sites and some overnight stays will be required.
A self-confident accounting professional, the successful candidate will be newly/recently/fully qualified or be studying for an accounting qualification such as CIMA, ACA or ACCA. They will have a proven knowledge and experience of transactional finance within a large global company. They will be confident, approachable and be customer service orientated. They will be able to communicate and build relationships with customers at all levels and be a team player. Knowledge of Excel at an advanced level is prerequisite for this role. Experience of project work and knowledge of SAP, AX Dynamics and Movex systems would be advantageous.
