C.RO Ports is a highly-respected, leading provider of European ro-ro stevedoring services, and is a significant part of a successful privately-owned, international group that can trace its history back to 1928.

C.RO Ports, a 24/7 business, is currently going through a considerable period of growth and investment and now wishes to recruit a General Manager UK Ports who will have day-to-day management responsibilities for operations at Purfleet (Thames), Killingholme (Humber) and Port Sutton Bridge (Wash)

The Role

The General Manager UK Ports is a most important operational leadership role that reports to the Board of Directors.

Key challenges and responsibilities within this broad, multi-site role, will include;

  1. Driving continuous improvement and best practice within the operations of the 3 locations
  2. Providing analysis, and strategic, innovative thinking to manage growth
  3. Using intellect and vision/foresight to make sensible operational decisions
  4. Preparing business cases for changes that require investment
  5. Leading, mentoring, inspiring and organizing the several hundred employees to deliver excellent performance
  6. Ensuring that 'Health & Safety' considerations and regulations are given top priority
  7. Overseeing the management of relationships with customers and internal group functions.

 

The Person:

C.RO Ports acknowledge they seek an exceptional talent for this challenging role.

It is pre-requisite that you can demonstrate a proven track-record of successful management of multi-site operations, and that you have a flexible nature and the commitment to travel regularly to the three locations to be involved and effective.

You will have the intellect and self-confidence to handle a high-profile, demanding, responsible position. A sense of humour may well be helpful.

As for sector background, experience in industries where improving operations process is important, such as manufacturing, may be as attractive as experience in sectors such as transportation, logistics, ports, shipping.

Qualification in Health & Safety or experience of industries where H&S is important would be advantageous.

The Group has a flat management structure and so the ability to be both very 'hands-on', and 'down to earth' with colleagues in an industrial type environment and simultaneously have the gravitas to be credible at Board level is most important.

You will be self-motivated and keen to join a company where you can 'add-value' and make a long-term contribution.

As a leader you will have excellent people skills and business acumen, with the ability to listen, observe, analyze, challenge, influence, mentor, problem-solve and make decisions.

It is necessary for you to enjoy and understand the culture in a privately-owned group.
