Description

Robert Half Office Team are recruiting exclusively for a Head of HR to join prestigious independent boarding school, Clifton College. Founded in 1862 Clifton College is an established and highly reputable Education provider, set in historical buildings in the beautiful suburb of Clifton in Bristol.

Role

The Client are looking for an engaging and driven Head of HR to lead and manage HR activities across the College. The desired candidate will develop and deliver strategies that embed a high performing culture throughout all areas, enabling successful delivery of the HR function. You will engage with and lead the HR team ensuring high performance and levels of efficiency.

Responsibilities


As Head of Human Resources your responsibilities will include but not be limited to;


* Ensure the College Single Central Register (SCR) is managed and maintained in line with relevant legislation and inspection standards
* Lead and manage the HR approach to safeguarding ensuring that all safeguarding related HR activities are maintained, monitored and inspection-ready
* Lead and champion workforce equality and diversity ensuring that all managers and staff understand, comply with, and are committed to their responsibilities across the Equality and Diversity agenda
* Promote and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons
* Ensure the College is compliant with employment legislation and statutory requirements
* Provide expertise and guidance on HR, workforce development, employee relations and change management issues
* Develop and implement an agreed HR strategy
* Lead and develop the relationship with the College's recognised union(s)
* Attend and manage the termly JCNC meeting with union representatives
* Ensure that systems are in place to identify, recruit and develop staff
* Negotiate and/or lead consultation on changes to employment policies with staff and/or their representatives
* Work with Senior Executive Team (SET) to provide the College with the service and tools to deliver the required outcome
* Lead any organisational review or restructure processes to ensure that the College's structures are fit for purpose
* Review and improvement of operational staffing activities
* Building and maintaining excellent relationships with key stakeholders
* Development and implementation of HR strategies ahead of general staff development and retention;
* Partnering with Marketing to maintaining engaging internal communications
* Researching and understanding organisational culture and behaviou
* Successful budget management and supporting the sound financial position of the College
* Development of performance management strategies and plans;

* Provide appropriate management reports and guidance to SET
* Manage employee relations ensuring appropriate communication and consultation with all staff and staff groups
* Ensure appropriate management outcomes for all employee relations issues and cases;
* Manage and ensure optimum use and efficiency of the HR Department systems and processes including iTrent
* Develop and implement a College-wide staff development programme; ensure that induction and staff development and training programmes for new staff is in place and effective
* Develop strategies to recognise and promote staff health and wellbeing
* Lead on the development and updating of College policies and procedures relating to staff
* Review and analyse data from a range of sources (both internal and external) to identify staff trends/issues and best practice and implement appropriate initiatives to address them
* Manage and minimise risk within all areas of responsibility
* Carry out operational duties as required and commensurate with the position
* Use all available resources efficiently and effectively
* Attend and contribute to senior team and cross college meetings as required

Person Specification


* Experience of HR within a safeguarding-focussed environment
* Experience in a senior HR and organisational development role
* Significant understanding of current HR practices, policies and legislation
* Knowledge and experience of dealing with a wide range of staffing groups including teachers, support staff and unions
* Recent experience with the education sector desired
* Demonstrable experience of influencing and leading change at all levels
* Proven ability to write reports, analyse data and make recommendations
* Strong commercial acumen
* Senior level experience within a complex organisation
* Ability to understand organisational culture
* Able to communicate effectively at all levels
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Creative and innovative approach to managing Human Resources
* Strong planning and organisational skills

Salary & Benefits


The role of Head of HR will be paid a salary of £65,000. Benefit include free lunch, gym membership and access to Kids Club (during working hours) for Children over the age of 4.
