The Role

Robert Half Financial Services is currently recruiting for a leading advisory Asset Management business based in Guildford, who are looking for a Senior Risk Analyst to join their growing Risk & Information team on a permanent basis.

The Risk Analyst operate as a senior member of the risk analysis, performance attribution and information services team. They will have responsibility for measuring, reporting and analysis of market, credit and operational risks as well as overseeing the production of reports and in-depth analysis of performance and risk information on The Company's investment strategies, which are packaged as mutual funds, investment trusts, segregated mandates and model portfolios. The risk information reports and analysis are designed to support the governance and risk oversight process, the investment managers and the sales and marketing teams. In addition, they will manage the production of general information supporting the business and manage the Risk Analyst and Information Services Analyst in the team.

Senior Risk Analyst responsibilities include:

  • Provide analytical support for the Chief Risk Officer
  • Preparation of risk reports and performance attribution reports for senior management and the governance committees
  • Provide in-depth analysis of the risks to the company funds when requested and use initiative to identify when more analysis is required
  • Design / assist in the development of processes to assess risk characteristics and performance attribution for company investment strategies
  • Identify ways to present data analysis in formats which draw attention to key changes and promote the assimilation of data for the target audience
  • Manage / assist in the design and production of ad-hoc reports
  • Manage / assist in research connected with new products or risk projects
  • Manage / assist in the collection of data to develop analysis
  • Ensure timely, efficient and accurate production of regular information by the Risk Department
  • Maintain up to date procedures

As well as Information Services responsibilities:

  • Oversee regulatory reporting
  • Oversee Investment Association reporting
  • Oversee performance reports
  • Marketing information support in relation to the company's funds, investment trusts and Portfolio Management Services.
  • Assist with ad-hoc queries as required

Your Profile

Our client, a leading advisory Asset Management business based in Guildford is looking for a Senior Risk Analyst who:

  • Good understanding of equity and fund performance measurement
  • Good understanding of equity performance attribution methodologies
  • Good understanding of risk methodologies, Factor Risk Models, VAR, and Monte Carlo
  • Practical knowledge of investment management, operations, liquidity, leverage, and margin calculations
  • Understanding of performance and risk of multi-asset portfolios including derivatives, e.g. currency hedging, total return swaps

Experience

  • Practical experience developing, maintaining, and monitoring risk and performance with an equity/alternatives investment manager
  • Practical experience with performance reporting and methodologies including TWR
  • Experience with equities, equity derivatives, futures, and FX, pricing and valuations

Skills

  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Modelling financial risk models, stress and back testing
  • Staff management skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of the regulatory environment
  • Programming skills (SQL, Excel VBA, MATLAB, R) preferable

Qualifications

  • Strong academic qualifications 2:1 or above in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, economics, physics, or engineering
  • 5+ years experience working in an investment management or other financial environment covering risk management
  • Firm understanding of financial products including derivatives
  • Relevant professional qualification preferred, e.g. CFA, FRM or PRM
  • Ability to work in a small team environment, deliverables focused, with strong communication skills
