Description

This is a full-time role based in the Edinburgh. The post-holder will be a member of a vibrant Finance team in a specific faculty team, one of 8 professional services teams and managed by the Finance Manager.

Role

The positions sits within Management Accounts and is line managed by the Finance Manager. The post-holder works closely with the Finance Manager, Research Accountant and the other Administrators to support financial activities.

This is a full time open-ended post and we are seeking for the successful candidate to start as soon as possible.

  • Assist with annual budget setting.

  • Provide financial advice and support to budget holders

  • Monthly monitoring of budgets which includes monitoring of invoicing, accruals, WIP, tax analysis and balance sheet reporting

  • Management of balance sheet integrity to include review and management of inter-company transactions and accruals across all Entities

  • Support Finance Manager with quarterly forecasting

  • Monitor income and expenditure within consultancies and liaise with other team members to ensure that Entity/Annual accounts accurately reflect consultancy income on the accruals basis.
  • Provision and interpretation of financial reports for budget holders across the School and for the Research Accountant & Finance Manager when required.

  • Provision of month end accounting routines, monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and statistical information as required.

Profile

AAT/Studying desirable but not required

Experience of large accounting/ledger software system.

Experience of accounts analysis

Understanding of accounting/financial regulations, and the ability to communicate financial regulations and concepts to influence and negotiate with others.

Excellent double entry and basic accounting skills.

Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interpret complex information and disseminate in an easily accessible format for audiences with different levels of understanding.

Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work with speed and accuracy as well as working to strict deadlines under pressure.

The ability to work both independently, flexibly, and across team/section boundaries to strengthen working relationships.

Ability to be authoritative and knowledgeable in all areas of the School's finance activities to evoke confidence and respect.

Highly proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.

Possess a positive, proactive and professional attitude to providing support to others even in difficult or challenging circumstances.

Ability to work flexible hours when required, i.e. at peak work times.

Hourly rate will be £13-16ph plus holiday pay and then salary of up to £32k on permanent basis
