3rd Line Support Engineer, Leicestershire, £275-300 per day

Purpose of the role:

We are recruiting for a 3rd Line Support Engineer with strong, proven VMware experience to join the growing IT team of a dynamic FTSE250 company, in supporting internal systems and customers while getting involved in project work aimed at optimising the company's infrastructure.

On joining the successful candidate will hit the ground running and assist with the management of the company's entire VMware environment, Windows Infrastructure, maintenance and support of the Netapp SAN whilst ensuring high availability services are running and delivered to the UK user base.

Key Accountabilities:

Specifically the Technical Specialist will be responsible for the following:

  • Manage our Netapp SAN. Provide daily support, health check the system, trend storage growth and advise of future upgrade \ requirements to support our business needs.
  • Support our VMWare platform, provide daily support, health check the system.
  • Manage and maintain Active Directory (excluding users and computers)
  • Monitor and troubleshoot health of servers, event logs etc. and the server environment to ensure that services are available to business users.
  • Monitor available disk space.
  • Carry out and monitor backup and restore functions.
  • Deploy security patches as recommended by the Security Offices.
  • Office 365 and MS Cloud Technologies
  • Support and provide technical assistance to other teams as required
  • Project support

You must also have the will and the capability to travel to other sites across the UK as required (You must hold a valid Full UK Driving License) and flexibility around working hours is also required. The team undertakes an out of hour's on-call rota for which you will receive an additional allowance.

Technical / Professional Expertise and Qualifications Required:

  • SAN (Netapp) - Extensive knowledge with proven experience of supporting and administering a SAN in a large scale corporate environment.
  • VMware - Day to day administration
  • Windows 2008 / 2012 server - installation, configuration, troubleshooting including powershell.
  • Active Directory Services - replication, troubleshooting, DR, Group Policy, (ADFS an advantage)
  • Good understanding of LAN \ WAN using Cisco technologies
  • Office 365 and MS Cloud Technologies
  • ITIL foundation
  • Strong communications skills, business awareness, and a customer focused approach.
