Robert Half International have been engaged in exclusive partnership with Activate Learning to recruit a Senior Finance Manager, based in Oxford.

The salary will be between £45,000 and £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience), plus excellent benefits that include 35 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), government pension scheme, cycle to work scheme, childcare vouchers and on-site parking.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

The Group has a turnover of approximately £54m and is focused on doubling this in the next year. Growth is targeted through acquisition, organic growth within apprenticeships and higher education, development of International opportunities (focusing on India, China, South East Asia and the Middle East), a growing online capability and leveraging the property assets and 'back office'.

This position sits within Activate Learning Education Trust (ALET), a multi-academy trust established by Activate Learning. Born to deliver excellence in education and transform lives through learning by providing exciting and innovative education for young people. Activate Learning is the sponsor for ALET, which is run with the support of a number of industry and academic partners.

ABOUT THE ROLE

A newly scoped position to support the Head of Finance. This is a fantastic opportunity offering autonomy, as well as opportunities to further your skill set and progress within a rapidly expanding organisation. A role geared towards partnering with stakeholders of varying levels through to the senior leadership team. The main responsibilities will consist of:

  • Support and partner with ALET leadership team including headteachers, CEO's and senior stakeholders to ensure understanding and deliver of financial/business targets
  • Prepare monthly management reports; providing accurate and timely information in adherence to strict deadlines
  • Carry out financial analysis to interrogate performance and recommend areas for improvement
  • Support the business planning process, focusing on areas of risk and ensuring group objectives are met
  • Visit the schools on a regular basis to build strong relationships with the head teachers and other stakeholders
  • Prepare claims for capital and other funds
  • Support managers and wider staff to develop commercial awareness
  • Provide ongoing training on financial systems for key stakeholders
  • Assist with preparation of year end statutory accounts

REQUIREMENTS

This is a role that will evolve and develop in line with the successful candidate:

  • Strong communication and presentation skills with clear examples of working with senior stakeholders both finance and non-finance
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or equivalent accounting qualification)
  • Innovative and collaborative approach to assisting the delivery of financial performance
  • Advanced user of Excel
  • An educational background would be advantageous but not essential
