London, 11 February 2013 – Robert Half UK, the leading recruitment specialist, is delighted to announce a charity of the year partnership with the nation’s heart charity, the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
Through a number of fundraising initiatives, Robert Half is hoping to raise a generous sum of money as well as raise awareness to help support the BHF’s life-saving work. The BHF carries out vital research, pioneering care and support for the 2.3 million people living with heart disease in the UK.
Robert Half employees in offices across the UK are arranging initiatives such as challenge events, 5-a-side football, quiz nights, fancy dress and client hospitality in a bid to raise much needed funds. In the spirit of leading by example, the Robert Half director team will be making personal fundraising and awareness commitments to support the cause and interest groups have been created around biking, walking and trekking to help engage employees and foster teambuilding.
All branches of Robert Half began with a ‘kick off’ day on February 8, in which staff watched health education videos and made a ‘heart pledge’ for the forthcoming year - pledging plans to improve the health of their own heart, which may include quitting smoking or more exercise.
Phil Sheridan, UK Managing Director of Robert Half said: “We are delighted and proud to be supporting such a vital charity and helping them in their fight against heart disease. Heart disease is the UK’s single biggest killer, so all support either through fundraising or addressing the severity of this disease is immensely important.
“Not only does working with the BHF mean that we will be raising important funds, it is also a chance for us to raise awareness on how we can individually maintain a healthy heart. Their remit compliments our wellness programmes, as we aim to educate our employees and their families on the benefits of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. We are excited to get started on our fundraising goals, although I am sure this will be just the beginning for the long-term advantages we will reap from our partnership.”
Amit Aggarwal, Head of Corporate Partnerships, British Heart Foundation said: “As a charity we rely on donations to continue our life-saving work; every research grant awarded, heart nurse funded and information booklet sent out is only possible because of the support we receive from companies like Robert Half. We are delighted to have been selected as charity of the year for 2013/14 and are looking forward to working together to raise vital funds and increase awareness of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle amongst Robert Half staff.”
